Musicians on Call

Musicians On Call is a nonprofit that brings the healing power of music to patients, families and caregivers in healthcare environments across the country to help lift spirits, reduce anxiety, and create a positive environment for healing. Locally, Musicians On Call delivers bedside music programming to veterans at the Portland VA Medical Center. They are currently seeking volunteers to help create meaningful connections with veteran patients. Here are a few ways you can help:

VOLUNTEER - To apply to be a volunteer, visitwww.musiciansoncall.org/volunteer.

Volunteer Musician - Volunteer musicians are local, professional-caliber musicians who play music for patients virtually and at the bedside.  Note that musicians must be solo artists (duos are not allowed) and are expected to play covers, not originals, since research shows that patients respond best to known music.

Volunteer Guide (Non-Musician) - Volunteer Guides act as the "eyes and ears" of Musicians On Call, leading the musician through the experience of playing for patients and liaising between families and staff.

REFER - Forward this email to your friends, colleagues, or anyone you think might be interested in volunteering. (Shareable Flyer)

ENGAGE - Connect us to local community organizations to spread the word about our volunteer opportunities.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more, please reach out to India Nolen-Tuleja, a member of the Street Team of volunteer recruiters. She was a volunteer guide in Denver before Musicians On Call opened up a chapter in Portland, and says the experience changed her life. Now, she is thrilled to be advocating for their cause as a volunteer recruiter. She would love to speak with you about her experience at (941) 787-0356 or portland2@musiciansoncall.org.
