Investing in Oregon Music

The Oregon Arts Commission just rolled out its FY2026 Sustaining Arts Program awards, and the numbers are worth a look. A meaningful share of it is reaching organizations well beyond Portland. A few music-specific highlights: Sunriver Music Festival and the Arts Council of Pendleton each landed $5,000 awards, while the Klamath Folk Alliance, Salem Philharmonia Orchestra, and The Dalles' Cascade Singers each received just over $2,300.

These aren't life-changing sums for any one organization, but they add up to something bigger: a funding stream that actually shows up for Central, Eastern, and Southern Oregon music groups year after year. Worth remembering — grant dollars, like gig opportunities, shouldn't stop at the Portland city line.
