Friends--

I'm happy to share some good news this month: Ashley Bradfield and Brad Auerbach are joining the MusicOregon Board of Directors. They came to us through the statewide listening tour and were elected after board interviews.

If you've spent time in Southern Oregon's music and arts scene, you probably know Ashley Bradfield. She lives in Williams in the Applegate Valley, co-owns Crash and C Mac Productions, and has long been a key connector in the community. Ashley has had her hands in a lot of pies (in a good way), including economic development, music production, Bluegrass Pride, and more. In her interview, she said she doesn't want to be the only one in that role. She hopes to find and train others locally to help bring people together, so the organization isn't dependent on just one person's contacts.

Brad Auerbach comes to us from Bend. He's a partner at Outside General Counsel, where he leads the sports, entertainment, and media group, and he previously worked as in-house counsel at Disney. He now manages merchandise operations for George Clinton and helped restore Sly Stone's merchandise business after it was taken over by bootleggers. Brad was also Managing Director of Rock Paper Photo, an online rock-and-roll photography gallery started by Guy Oseary, who manages Madonna and U2. He also teaches in Berklee College of Music's online Master's in Music Business program.

When asked about MusicOregon's statewide goals, both Ashley and Brad pointed out the same issue. The real risk isn't doing too little at the state level, but losing the real differences between regions. That's exactly why we need people with firsthand experience.

I'm excited about the energy from the listening tour. We're building relationships across the state and a board capable of taking MusicOregon to the next level. It feels good.
